How Contractors Get Jobs
- Good Rapport
- A Good Referral
- The Best (Initial) Price or Lowest Bid
From the start, contractors want to be your friend. They know the best way to get a job is to have some combination of good rapport, a good referral, and a good price.
Generally, the better the contractor is with one aspect the less they focus on the other two. If there is great rapport and a good referral, there is little incentive to have the best price. If there is little or no rapport or referral, there is tremendous incentive to have a great price.
Contractors understand that the best way to get the job is to have the best price, or the low bid. Contractors always welcome referrals, but also know they are rare. Some contractor’s who get a good referral, start thinking they have the job before bidding phase is complete, and lose incentive to give the best price.
