Verify Insurance Coverage

Now that you have identified your low bidder, verify the insurance coverage(s) required in the bid package.

Call the contractors you are considering for the project. Let them know that they have made the short list and that you would like to verify their insurance.

Ask them to send you a copy of their insurance certificate, with the understanding that if selected, you will require them to provide you with an updated certificate that names you as an additional insured.
