Using the Bid Addendum
After the bid packages go out to contractors, use a bid addendum to inform contractors of changes to the bid package.
Contractors can get confused when they get multiple versions of the same construction documents. Using the Bid addendum form reduces confusion and makes issuing, transmitting, and tracking bid changes, easy.
Issue one addendum and send it to all bidders, asking them to let you know they received it. That will eliminate the possibility of contractors missing information.
Make sure to give all bidders enough time to adjust their bids. If you send out an addendum less than 3 days before the due date, give the contractor another couple days to respond by including an optional extension.
Use the Bid Addendum Form to inform bidders of changes.
