Project Closeout Checklist
Print a copy of this Project Closeout Checklist to help you keep track that all contractual and legal activities are complete.
The following is a typical residential project closeout checklist:
- Punch list completion
- Remove all temporary site facilities, trailers, portable toilets, signage, etc.
- Rubbish removal from site and building interior
- Final cleaning at site and building interior
- Final inspections/secure Certificate of Occupancy from the Building Department
- Contact insurance carrier(s) – policy end, as applicable
- Secure as-built drawings (from General and/or Subcontractors)
- Secure operations & maintenance (O & M) manuals
- Systems start-up and customer training programs
- Secure all material and product warranties (may be part of O & M)
- Secure additional material and spare parts per contract documents
- Secure all final keys
- Collect owner’s manual(s) per contract documents
- Collect any project architects/engineers final invoice affidavits and closeout documents
- Collect all final construction draws, invoices, bills, and lien waivers
- Reconcile payments, change orders, and retention
- Issue completion authorization and final payments
