Bid Deadline

It takes contractors time to put a good bid together.

Make sure that you give them time to review the project documents, attend the pre-bid meeting(s), make calls to get pricing, find any required samples and put their bid together.

Here’s suggestions on how long to give contractors to bid:

$30,000 – $90,000 : 2 weeks

$91,000 – $220,000 : 3 weeks

$221,000 and up : 4 weeks

The time allows them to ask questions, and for you to develop your answer and inform everyone. You may not need all the time but you do want to give them all the same amount of time to send yo a bid.

Once you determine the Bid Deadline date put the date on the Project Profile Form that you have already started.
